REM sleep

According to this article many people in the 1950's thought there was a relation between dreams and schizophrenia but it was discounted because schizophrenics and normal people had the same patterns of REM sleep except for when schizophrenics were psychotic.

I still think the answer lies somewhere in sleep and there is a malfunction that is not evident by just studying eye motion. I think it relates to overloads of serotonin because the melatonin/serotonin cycling is wacky.

It is kind of scary that we treat conditions that we do not understand, huh? I liked your post about Lilly and the off-label use. Too many people do not understand the serious side effects of these meds.

One little girl died because they prescribed a antipsychotic because she was underweight and a side effect is weight gain.

If they quit calling certain mental health problems a lifelong disease and looked at it as a temporary sleep disorder, a lot of prejudice would fall away.
